This building was an ancient Pilgrims Hospital of the Monastery of Santiago and at present it’s the building of the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Tourist Information Office. It preserves the Gothic façade from the 13th century.
The building has two floors and a courtyard with a well. After the Mendizábal disentailment in 1835, this building passed into private hands as many other churches and monasteries. From that moment on, it had different uses; It was a hostel offering accommodation and food services, a house for buying and selling cattle and a family house, until it was donated to the City Council of Carrion by Ms. Piedad García for cultural uses. So, it’s currently the Museum of Contemporary Art.
